Paint the Skies Red

Finally. Actually posted something. Finally.

Right, this is a picture I'd had on my desk for quite a looong time, at least four months... But I could never bring myself to finish it. It went through the phase of having an arguing sketch, inking that took ages because of faulty pencils - if I'm remembering correctly, coloring wasn't that bad apart from the dirt hill... And then the sky and shading, which I just finished about two weeks ago... I'm so far pretty pleased with it, considering how long it took to get here O_o

I'm not REALLY sure where the original idea for this came from... I think it may be based on a short story I wrote a long while back, and it's somewhere deep down in Battel's files... I believe he's staring out over a flooding city full of other animals trying to flee... The sky's a bit... Flushy? Is that a word...? According to Safari Spellcheck it isn't... But yus, sky looks flushy, and oddly blotchy, but I kind of like it... Less of a realistic look...
